The Forces That Rule Our Happiness

We live in a world with constant information being channelled towards us, a flood of data, brand names, products, fashion statements, health worries, fears ranging from terrorism to pandemics. This constant barrage of uninvited data clouds our view of the real world. Consider even 40 years ago, no mobile phones, tablets, Alexa’s, personal computers. We had to take time out of our day and tune in to a tv, to be hit with the messages of product advertising and the news, broadcasting a sense of worry. But when away from this, the amount of inconsequential information flowing towards us was very quiet compared to today.

In today’s world we can’t even turn away from the constant digital chatter, it carries with it expectations, a sense of what it is that we should be eating, believing, doing or liking relative to others on Facebook and Instagram. To see everyone else’s opinion constantly overrides our own as we take less time to consider what we actually like ourselves. What was fashionable once took a decade to blend through a social group, now styles flicker into then out of fashion in a matter of months. The change comes quickly as the newest styles are run out, once released they start expensive, worn by a select few, then slide down the chain of rare to common as fast fashion replicates the design and floods the market. At this point the scales have tipped and the item is already unfashionable. It could be said that the length of time modern fashion can last is directly proportional to the speed at which the product can be duplicated and cheaply sold. Once more than 10% of a population can afford it, the novelty is lost.

We are not simply living our own life in this world anymore, but the mass reflection of other lives. It’s becoming harder to separate what we desire and what we’re expected to desire. We are in a multi-rope tug of war, being pulled in all directions. Our own true sense of self begins in the middle where we try to hold ground. The stronger our convictions and beliefs the more stable, rooted we are. There will always be some people that will be unaffected by the tugging as they have freed themselves from the senseless chatter. But being constantly pulled about will move many of us, shifting from our centre we become a puppet to whatever system now feeds this view of the world that we see ourselves within. This is what it is to be affected by non-physical forces although we can see the medium on which they travel and we are aware of them.

Going a level deeper we have the underlying envelope of energies that flow about the whole of existence. The emotional, planetary, solar and conscious. The group life force of 8 billion people, a harmony or disharmony of emotional vibrations. What is it to live and be so conscious of a species as we are? We sense more than we can comprehend, we sense the sadness of loved ones, the mood of a crowd. Do we really believe we go unaffected by the mass emotional disruption of a country going through a war or a people being persecuted? Forces unseen and forces not yet measurable, play a role in how our moods are moulded over time.

Our low and high vibration ranges tell the story of how at peace we are, compared to how conflicted we are. Our vibrations will often resonate together with others and as we share similar vibrations we connect in a much deeper way. This, I believe, continues even after we are separated from the person, feeling them emotionally, regardless of distance. Our energy vibrations rise higher as we move out of the guilt and shame and towards acceptance, reason and ultimately enlightenment. By being generous and loving, accepting of others we rise above the fog of prejudice and negative thoughts.

How can we protect ourselves from this constant barrage of negative forces? For the more measurable influences we can reduce social media intake, less Instagram and Facebook. Don’t allow other people’s sad search for validation to reflect on ourselves and don’t prompt it from others by showing a whitewashed version of ourselves. Believe in yourself, try to think positive thoughts and aim to attract yourself to like-minded positive people. Dancing, singing, art of any form, expressing yourself through any medium without looking for validation from others, but just expressing yourself for yourself. Play and have fun, don’t worry about what other people think, this is what it is to be truly free and unaffected by that tug of war. The world is full of wonders, don’t just read about other people’s stories, make your own without trying to value it or relate it to others. Make your own story for you, because that’s all there is to this world that you live in, is you. Live the good life for yourself.
